We love to impart on our students a love for learning. They have been introduced to several languages from some amazing volunteers. We would like to continue this program and add more foreign languages to their weekly lessons. Volunteers work with a great group of children ages 3-6 and teach them basic words. We incorporate learning videos and songs for an exciting learning experiences. Lessons last 15-30 minutes once a week. We are flexible and will work with your schedule. Thank you for your interest.

Mission Statement

Academy for Learning and Character Development (ALCD) is a non-profit 501(c3) organization located in Huntsville, Alabama. The mission of ALCD is to provide a safe, affordable high quality child care in a developmentally appropriate environment for disadvantaged preschool and school age children.

Description

Under the leadership of ALCD founder and director Dr. Sylvia Collins, ALCD provides stimulating early care and an educational experience which promotes each child’s individual social/emotional, physical and cognitive development. We offer our services to the community so that parents can obtain meaningful careers and further their education.
