The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum is always welcoming volunteers. We believe that getting the community involved in sharing in the pride of Susan's first home is what will preserve the life and legacy of our feminist foremother.

GIFT SHOP ATTENDANT:

Retail experience is a bonus, but we are willing to train the right person. Maintaining the gift shop space when there are no visitors is also important. If you are congenial and motivated, you will be a perfect fit.

While the museum is busy, you will be able to interact with guests and help them navigate the museum and their berkshires experience. While the museum is slower, there are opportunities to improve the shop's shipping, metrics, and merchandising.

The possibilities are endless! We are a close-knit family here at the birthplace museum and are welcoming to anyone interested in getting involved. We encourage volunteers to propose their own projects as well for service hours, credit, or just for fun of course!

Preferred hours are Saturdays and Sundays, any time from 10am - 4pm. Once you have volunteered for ten hours, you will be granted a museum membership with free admission for a year, gift shop discounts, and free tickets to museum events such as teas, socials, and lectures!

67 EAST RD, ADAMS, MA 01220, US

Mission Statement

The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to preserving the birthplace and raising public awareness of the wide-ranging legacy of the great social reformer, Susan B. Anthony, who was a pioneering feminist and suffragist as well as a noteworthy figure in the abolitionist, opposition to Restellism (opposition to abortion), and temperance movements of the 19th century. As part of its mission, the Museum will highlight the familial and regional influences which shaped Ms.Anthony’s early life, by displaying the textiles and furnishings of that period, as well as the literature and other memorabilia associated with her later career.

Description

The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum is a Federal-style house, on the National Registry of Historic Places. Anthony was born in the house, built by her father, in 1820. The house was bought in 2006, restored and opened in the spring of 2010 as a museum. To date, the Birthplace has had nearly 4,000 visitors and runs a successful event series, with local and national authors and human rights activists.
