Making Friends - Enhancing Life

Friendly Visitors improve the quality of life for their new "nursing home friends."

A staggering 60% of nursing home residents have no visitors. That means an alarming 3,030 of 5,050 residents in the Bluegrass area are missing vital social interaction with people from their community.

As a Friendly Visitor, you will be matched with residents who have a significant need for your friendship. Bring your dog, your kids, a musical instrument, your sewing project, a magazine, or just your own energy to the nursing home and brighten the day of everyone you meet. Their expectations of your time are only a few minutes each week!

The Nursing Home Ombudsman Agency of the Bluegrass (NHOA) serves 17 counties in the central Kentucky area and more than 80 facilities, meaning we have a nursing home in your neighborhood.
