Volunteer Opportunity Summary:

This volunteer position is responsible for tutoring and mentoring the school aged children attending our Homework Enrichment Program.

Purpose:

The position of Tutor/Mentor helps the school aged children to achieve academically and socially. Your presence and life experiences will provide the children with a positive role model and help us to promote the importance of an education. We appreciate you supporting the children by encouraging them to be engaged in school and the learning process. This position offers the committed volunteer the opportunity to make a positive impact on a child’s life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the program teacher you will assist the children with their homework, review completed homework, and assist with any planned group activities aimed at improving specific skills and assist in supervising the children during play time.

Time Commitment:

One shift per week (6:30-8:30pm) for a minimum of three months. It takes time to form meaningful relationships. The children and the volunteer will gain so much more from a stable and consistent schedule.

Age Requirement:

Minimum age is 18 years old.
