Looking for volunteers to join the San Leandro Hospital Volunteer Program. Plenty of free parking, conveniently located next to the San Leandro Senior Community Center and the San Leandro FLEX Shuttle Service stop.

GENERAL DUTY VOLUNTEER

Volunteers greet patients and visitors, provide general hospital information, direct patients and visitors to their desired destination, wheelchair support, delivery of flowers and gifts to patients, lab runs, and supply deliveries.

STEPS TO BECOME A SAN LEANDRO HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER

Step 1: Consider the Commitment

We require a commitment of one 4 hour shift per week for a minimum of one year. There are morning and afternoon shifts available Monday - Friday.

Step 2: Submit Application

To apply please visit the AHS website AlamedaHealthSystem.org then click Volunteers on the banner at the top of the page.

Step 3: Interview

We will contact you to setup an interview within a week or two.

Step 4: Orientation

If accepted, you will be invited to attend an orientation covering both hospital and Volunteer Department policies, procedures, and other important information.

Step 5: Health Screening

After the orientation you will be able to make an appointment with AHS Employee Health. Volunteers are required to provide proof of immunity by immunization record or by titer(s) - blood tests for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (chicken-pox). Additionally volunteers are required to show documentation of a tuberculosis skin test (TST) performed elsewhere within the past 12 months and 1 within the past 3 months. AHS Employee Health can provide the second TB test for free. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination now required.

Step 6: Background Investigation

Volunteers are required to go through a criminal background screening after the Health Screening is completed.

Step 7: Now you can get your badge and start your training!
