Inside Out

Inside Out Reentry Community is seeking volunteers to help expand our work with individuals returning to the community after incarceration. Volunteering with Inside Out is for you if you...

-Want to build relationships and strengthen our community

-Believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity

-Want to advocate for returning citizens and fight the stigmatization they often face

-Are willing to offer support for returning citizens during their transition back to the community

- Think social justice reform is needed in areas such as voting rights, 'ban the box', and more.

Volunteers usually begin their involvement in the office. This allows you to learn about Inside Out and meet some returning citizens who are in the resource center to work on their reentry.

About Inside Out Reentry Community

Location:

804 S Capital St., IOWA CITY, IA 52240, US

Mission Statement

Our mission: to support people involved in the criminal legal system and educate the public in order to promote healing, restore relationships, and reduce recidivism.

Description

Inside Out Reentry Community is based in Iowa City and serves people returning to Johnson County after incarceration. We also work with individuals incarcerated throughout the State to help them develop re-entry plans, regardless of where they plan to live after release. Returning to and becoming an active member of society after being in prison is tough, and we strive to give these individuals every possible chance to build productive lives. Our entire community benefits when a returnee finds work, a place to live, and becomes a positive, contributing citizen.
