Passionate about science and nature? Love inspiring children and being part of a team? Join Environmental Volunteers for an exciting role!
As a School Programs Volunteer, you'll share your enthusiasm for the natural world with local elementary school kids. Working in friendly teams of 3 or 5, you'll engage small groups of children in hands-on, discovery-based learning right in their classrooms.
Skills Needed:
- Friendly and approachable
- Enjoy working with children
- Passion for science, nature, teaching, and environmental stewardship
- Support our mission of promoting environmental understanding through hands-on science education.
Our programs are delivered to local schools between Sunnyvale and Foster City, and occasionally in Alviso. We also deliver field trip programs at local open space preserve.
No prior experience required! We provide training to equip all successful applicants with teaching and interpretation skills. You'll always have support from fellow volunteers, with a teacher present in the classroom.
This role is perfect if you're available during school hours and have a love for children and education. With flexible hours, locations, and subject matters, you can choose opportunities that suit your lifestyle.
Join Environmental Volunteers and inspire the next generation! For more information or to apply, contact our Volunteer Program Coordinator at Volunteer@EnvironmentalVolunteers.org. About Environmental Volunteers

Mission Statement
To promote the understanding of and responsibility for the environment through hands-on science education.
Description
In 1972, when awareness of threats to the San Francisco Bay ecosystem began to grow, a group of women concerned about preserving the estuary for future generations created a small, hands-on program for local children. The program included a field trip to the Bay so students could experience it, know it, enjoy it, and grow to take care of it. This was the birth of Environmental Volunteers. Since then, more than 300,000 children and adults have explored natural science learning with us!
