Seton Youth Shelters seeks volunteers for their Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program, which matches a youth ages 4-18 with an adult mentor age 20 or older. All youth have been affected by the incarceration (past or present) of a family member. Mentors spend a minimum of 4 hours per month (weekly or biweekly) participating in recreational activities, helping with homework, going to museums, beach or library, and other age-appropriate activities. Minimum 1 year commitment. Background checks will be performed. This volunteer opportunity is available in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Newport News and Hampton.

Mission Statement
Seton Youth Shelters shall provide a safe haven, counseling and outreach services, 24 hours per day, without charge, to assist youth in crisis throughout Hampton Roads, with the goal of reuniting families.
Description
It is the primary resource in Hampton Roads for and about teenagers ages 9-18. It is done through a continuum of services ranging from preventive "Life Strategies"coaching to temporary shelters to outreach to kids living on the street. Eventually Seton Youth Shelters will be instrumental in breaking the cycle of dysfunctional families.
