Mission Statement
Saving the lives of animals while educating and changing views to end suffering. OutPaws is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization that is dedicated to saving the lives of neglected and abused companion pets and farm animals. Through its vegan farm animal sanctuary, OutPaws provides forever homes to animals rescued from neglect situations, shelters, and the agricultural industry. OutPaws works to educate and advocate for the compassionate and humane treatment of all species. Through education and hands-on experience at the Sweet Home Sanctuary, OutPaws demonstrates to the community the need for change in the way our society currently regards our fellow animals.
Description
Founded in 2013 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, OutPaws grew out of a dream to create an animal rescue organization reflecting Denver and Colorado’s young and vibrant ethos and living by the creed that there is no such thing as a bad dog or cat. OutPaws prides ourselves on being champions of the "underdogs," and we know that with a little patience and love, mixed with proper care and training, any animal can make a wonderful, loving companion. For eight years we operated as an all-volunteer, foster-based dog and cat rescue and rescued more than 2,000 dogs and cats--saving them from a hopelessness and abandonment.
In 2021, OutPaws was given the opportunity to expand our mission -- thanks to one of our longtime volunteers. We have moved our focus to an 80-acre farm in Peyton, Colorado where we are able to operate as a vegan farm animal sanctuary, the OutPaws' Sweet Home Sanctuary. Through the sanctuary, we are able to provide forever homes to animals rescued from neglect and abuse, shelters, and the agricultural industry. We work to educate and advocate for the compassionate and humane treatment of all species. Through both education and hands-on volunteer experiences, OutPaws demonstrates to the community the need for change in the way our society currently regards our fellow animals.
