Help with clerical work such as stuffing envelopes or newsletters. Sort baby clothing and make three big bags of clothes for each mother's baby with baby clothes sized newborn through 24 months. Help sort maternity clothing. Clothing is gently worn or new and is given free to the mothers we work with.
Birthright is non-profit, interdenominational, and non-political. Birthright offers the alternative to abortion. Birthright is pro-life.
Birthright's guiding principle: It is the right of every pregnant woman to give birth and the right of every child to be born.

Mission Statement
Birthright's mission is to maintain a crisis center where any pregnant girl or woman, wed or unwed, may find help as near as her telephone. By placing a call to the crisis center, she will be aided to mobilize her own resources and those of the community so that she may face the future and plan constructively for herself and her child. All Birthright services are to be free and confidential and provided by an all volunteer staff. Birthright offers the alternative to abortion.
Description
Birthright is a non-profit, interdenominational, non-political, emergency pregnancy service offering the alternative to abortion. It is staffed by volunteers. The office has rooms for answering the phone and offering caring support, baby clothes, and maternity clothes. Birthright of Greater Hartford's trained volunteers staff the office at 914 Main Street, Suite 216, East Hartford an average of 35 hours per week and contribute an additional average of 20 hours per week from home.
Birthright's ongoing presence of trained volunteers are available to pregnant women who may be distressed by their situations. Volunteers provide free pregnancy tests and caring and practical support. Birthright offers community resource information, maternity and baby clothes, and referrals to professionals for medical, legal, financial aid, and counseling. Maternity and infant clothing collected at local churches and donated to Birthright are distributed to the mothers we work with.
