Ten Thousand Villages of Huron Valley is a non-profit fair trade retail store that sells handcrafted gifts, accessories, home decor, and clothing made by artisans in marginalized countries.
Volunteers greet and assist customers and transact cash register sales. Some volunteers unpack and check-in merchandise. Other occasional volunteer opportunities include computer troubleshooting assistance, and minor repairs or maintenance.
Scheduling is flexible with shifts ranging from 2-4 hours in length, seven days a week. It's a lot of fun!
By learning about the handicrafts and telling artisan's stories, volunteers help to build cultural understanding and form an important link between customers and the artisans.
