If you are seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the community and get to know some amazing Counselors who have been doing this a long time, then please apply to join the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) team here at Sourcewise, Santa Clara, California.

Sourcewise - HICAP Santa Clara, California is looking for compassionate, dependable, committed candidates to become HICAP Volunteer Counselors.

As a HICAP Counselor, you will help provide free assistance and educate Medicare beneficiaries, analyze their Insurance needs, compare policies, help with filing claims and appeals or help fill out applications for assistance. Volunteer Counselors will provide free in-person and over-the-phone counseling. Counseling will be provided at our HICAP office or at one of the local senior centers or community centers located in Santa Clara County. Volunteer Counselors have the opportunity to train and get certified to present at Sourcewise's HICAP outreach events at local senior centers or community centers. HICAP Counselors will receive no-cost extensive initial training online (self-pace courses) as well as virtually through California Health Advocates (8-week course) followed by one-one mentorship training with an experienced HICAP Counselor prior to taking the state registration test.

Those who complete the training and pass the test will be registered with the California Department of Aging as HICAP Counselors.

WE ARE IN NEED OF HICAP COUNSELORS WHO ARE BILINGUAL IN ENGLISH, SPANISH, MANDARIN, VIETNAMESE OR TAGALOG.

This opportunity is open to all adults, with a preference for empty-nesters and retirees. It's an excellent prospect for social workers and college students pursuing a degree in Social Services or Social Work.
