Mission Statement
Jewish Family Service of Metrowest (JFS) provides vital social, health and community services to alleviate suffering, enhance lives and support people in need.
Description
For over 30 years, JFS has served the Metrowest communities of Framingham and surrounding towns. From its start -- providing information and referral for elders. --JFS has transformed into a multi-service agency providing social, health and community services for people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds. JFS provides services to ALL people in need of assistance within our community, regardless of religious affiliation, with a special focus on frail elders and vulnerable children. Once funded solely by the local Jewish community and staffed by volunteers, JFS now has 70 full and part-time staff and engages 200 volunteers.
JFS delivers services throughout Metrowest; 80% are provided outside the agency walls. Services target diverse populations across the life cycle, ranging from young children to frail elders. Most JFS clients are served without cost or at a significantly subsidized rate. Programs include:
- After-school/extended day learning
- Chronic disease management
- Citizenship and resettlement
- Geriatric Care Management
- Healthy Aging
- Homecare
- Intergenerational Volunteer Programs
- Family Assistance
- Case management
- Cash assistance
- Food pantry
Commitments to frail elders and vulnerable children propel an intensified focus on community-delivered services and organizational collaboration.
