Wendy and her mentor
One of our Dreamer from Watts, Wendy, with her mentor // Wendy's first time at the beach!

We're looking for one mentor for every student in our program. That mentor could be you!

Mentoring is a big part of what I Have a Dream Foundation - Los Angeles does for our students. We provide a long-term program of academic enhancement, mentoring and cultural enrichment and help our Dreamers graduate from high school, ready to attend college and realize their dreams.

A mentor is asked to meet with their mentee for their monthly group session with other paired mentor/mentee matches to receive continual support during the building of their relationships. Plus an opportunity to use their learned tools from the group sessions in practice during their 1-on-1 outing. They should also keep in touch once a week via telephone, text, or internet. Typical mentor outings include going to the beach, checking out a free concert in the park, seeing a movie, baking cookies, or playing a game of catch.
