Over 180,000 North Carolina residents are currently living with Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to increase 22% by 2025. Part of the Alzheimer's Association's mission is to drive risk reduction and early detection and our free community education programs are one way to support our goal.
The job of the Community Educator is to learn and present ready-to-go programs, such as 10 Warning Signs or Understanding Alzheimer's. Additional topics found at act.alz.org/encmonthlyprograms. Programs, scripts, and resources are provided.
Presenters are expected to:
Lead a program at least quarterly through staff collaboration and/or by scheduling your own presentations (faith community, nonprofit organizations, social services, guest speakers at professional or civic meetings, etc)
Refer attendees to the resources and programs of the Alzheimer’s Association as appropriate
Arrive on time, have reliable transportation, be comfortable with public speaking and technology
Successfully complete online training as well as individual preparation for each program
