About The Habitat Store

Location:

1221 Harris Street, Charlottesville, VA 22903, US

Mission Statement

The Habitat Store supports Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville by selling new and used furniture and building materials to the public at discount prices. Our donations come from various places in our community, and all our proceeds help fund our organization's mission to provide affordable housing in the Greater Charlottesville area.

Description

The Habitat Store was established in May of 2003 to provide a self-sustaining funding source to HFHGC. We also seek to extend Habitat's mission by making home maintenance and furnishing more affordable. A secondary, environmental benefit of the store is the reuse of second-hand furniture and building materials, which helps to reduce waste in our community.

A team of full-time staff and dedicated volunteers contribute to the daily operations of the store. We are open for donations and volunteering on Tuesday 10 am - 4 pm, and open for donations, volunteering and shopping on Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm.

We sell and accept donations of new and used furniture and residential building materials, including art, home decor, office and home furniture, antiques and vintage items, beds, lighting, cabinets, doors, windows, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, flooring, lumber, hardware, tools, appliances and much, much more!

Our volunteers support our store in many ways, for example by helping with taking and processing donations, setting and stocking our sales floor, providing customer service and being creative or handy in our workshop. We try to utilize and cultivate all the talents present in our wonderful volunteers!
