The Ready.Set.READ! program is seeking volunteers to tutor 2nd grade students who are struggling with reading at various elementary schools in Berks County. No previous teaching experience is required. This opportunity is for anyone interested in volunteering weekly for one hour during the 2024-2025 school year. Current background clearances and one 2 hour training session are required prior to assignment. Please visit www.readysetreadberks.org for additional details. During the 2024-2025 school year additional tutors are needed in the Brandywine Heights, Conrad Weiser, Hamburg, Kutztown, Reading, Daniel Boone, and Twin Valley school districts in Berks County. During the 2nd semester starting in January, Governor Mifflin school district will need tutors to assist 1st grade students.

Description
The Volunteer Center of United Way recruits volunteers for long term, one time and short term volunter positions. Referrals are made to over 200 non-profit agencies and organizations. The Volunteer Center offers technical assistance to other non-profits on volunteer related issues. The Volunteer Center promotes volunteerism by coordinating several Volunteer initiatives such as The United Way Day of Caring, Dr. Martin Luther King Day and Volunteer Fairs. In addition the Volunteer Center recruits corporate and community volunteers for the early grade reading initiaive Ready.Set.READ!
