Full title of ad:

Web design/logo/branding/print & content: marketing small social services org.

Expand your marketing portfolio (and karma) while enhancing our web presence. Deliver us from open loops and indecision, while boosting your design/marketing/writing skills. Help us make our mark while making yours.

We seek volunteers for:

1. Website design & some maintenance, SEO optimization; branding

2. Logo refinement; branding

3. Brochure/printed material creation/editing - such as trifold or some other variation. Yeah, still branding .

4. Content development in website and print.

Please be proficient in/have access to :

- Concrete 5 (open source CMS), including modifying add-ons, if applicable. Set up at least a couple business email accounts, since currently we use gmail. IF you can make a sound argument that there is better open source CMS that can be hosted for free on dreamhost or other reliable site, we will consider. Wordpress did not seem like quite a good fit when we last explored it.

- Creation of favicon for the website using our logo

- Vector drawing programs like Illustrator; inkscape is freeware but there are certain limitations. We have Adobe CS 6 for PC but limited experience and time to use and explore. (We do not have multiple licenses so cannot share any software, sorry).

- Photoshop

- PC, since conversion from Mac to PC can get dicey; we need editing capabilities (sorry Apple lovers!)

- MS Office with Publisher 2010 or newer

Either have experience in or quickly learn independently:

- Dreamhost (nonprofit version, which is free and less bells and whistles) - it’s the shared hosting version, https://www.dreamhost.com/hosting/shared/

You have:

- A detail-oriented mind (or at least ability to have that during the project!)

- Ability to ruthlessly edit where needed, as evidenced by this lengthy ad!

- Background of nonprofits and marketing.

Bonus qualities, though not necessary :

- Interest/familiarity with mental health and addictions "peer specialist" field (particularly applies to content management - as this is a niche but growing industry).

- Local to southern Montgomery County, Maryland.

- Sense of humor.

Ideally , you can handle multiple aspects of the project. However, if proficient in some but not all, then please state your specialty and be nimble in coordinating work with other volunteer/s if needed. Flexibility and patience is key - we do not have a completely clear vision of what we want, nor full vocabulary to describe. (Tech jargon minimal).

What we do know we want with website:

- Simple, clean, intuitive

- Some photos. Perhaps pages dedicated to photos of activities, art from workshops

- Workable calendar function. Currently it’s linked with google calendar and basically unused.

- Logo/brand incorporation in design & favicon: Our logo is (deep) purple and green; the colors didn’t translate on our existing website, but did in this ad. We’re open to tonality changes but want to keep colors in the purple and green family. Logo created in inkscape by a volunteer (whom we will credit on the upgraded site). It may need a few adjustments.

- Link to PayPal Payments Standard & Express Checkout.

- Responsive design (works on mobile n’ other devices)

- No fbook nor Twitter now, but future consideration ( w/out constant content, it’s not worth using those tools. Social media volunteers will be a separate listing )

- Eventually maybe message board, but that’s a way off

We have an incomplete simple website hosted on dreamhost (free for nonprofits) using concrete 5 (open source). The website is www.pwrsinc.org actually no longer online, need to create new from scratch unless you know how to access the previous creation on concrete five. We'll probably switch to wix or something... tho' dreamhost can't support that, i don't think. If someone is great w/ wordpress, open source, that can be hosted on dreamhost.

A bit about us : We offer peer support, training, workshops, and social security benefits counseling to adults w/ mental health and substance use challenges, in diverse settings. We’re great at linking folks to resources. We are expanding into fee for service peer and job coaching. We’d like materials specific to each type of service, including (perhaps) rate sheets. Our organization is small and mostly all volunteer; we operate on short term contracts and lots of pro bono work. We'd like our message/brand ( ugh, overused term! ) to be more compelling to funders and potential partners, make sense to our target population and the general public.

- Reference which sites you’ve built or helped build using concrete5, Wordpress, or other, and how long you have worked with this software. Also, if you’re arguing for different CMS, then show examples why...

- Start date & time availability. Promising candidate/s will have short phone interview.
