BE THE DIFFERENCE in the life of an adult or child. Volunteer tutors work one-on-one for just a few hours a week, helping learners attain their personal educational goals. Tutors work with learners in a relaxed and supportive environment, providing a source of inspiration and hope, and instill a lifelong love of learning. Tutoring sessions are individualized, and designed to meet the needs of learners to improve their literacy skills and to achieve their goals. Volunteer opportunities can be in-person or remote.
Adult Tutors: Project READ offers tutor training for new community volunteers six times a year.
Teen Tutors: Project READ offers teen tutor trainings on a monthly basis. If you are interested in tutoring or volunteering with Project READ, please contact us or stop by; rclread@rewoodcity.org (650) 780-7077.
Tutors complete an in-depth tutor training prior to being matched with a learner.
Training sessions are held at the downtown Redwood City Library. All meetings are from 6pm - 8pm.

Tutoring schedules for tutor/student pairs are individualized, with pairs meeting onsite at Project READ or remotely based on your available schedule. The majority of our students request in-person tutoring sessions onsite at Project READ.
