Volunteers will prepare braille material in their home for visually impaired students, workers, and leisure readers. Volunteers must be or become certified as a braille transcriber by the National Library Service in Washington, D.C. The training takes about a year to complete and is available locally.

The Communication Center of State Services for the Blind provides reading materials in alternate formats for persons who are visually or physically-impaired to provide them with the tools necessary to live a full life and achieve personal independence through access to information.
Description
State Services for the Blind is a division of the MN Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). We provide vocational rehabilitation, promote independent living, create accessible media, and offer many other services for people who are blind or visually impaired.
