Becoming a hospice volunteer is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on your fellow veterans by continuing the 'Mission’ of service. We invite you to consider volunteering with hospice and palliative care patients who are also Veterans. Hospice of the Western Reserve relies on volunteers to serve the mission of the agency in countless ways.
One way volunteers serve is the program Peaceful and Proud, providing personalized care to Veterans at the end of life. Through this program, Hospice of the Western Reserve volunteers assist Veterans with Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer pairing, gratitude for military service with an Honored Veteran Recognition Ceremony, spiritual care, storytelling, or expressive therapies using music and art.
Volunteer education sessions are held frequently throughout Northeastern Ohio. Veterans wishing to work with patients and their families attend a total of 4 sessions of education. There are also opportunities to participate in Veterans events in the community, which require only 1 session of education.
