ORGANIZATION: Hospice of the Western Reserve

  • 2 people are interested

Hospice of the Western Reserve is seeking caring and compassionate pet therapy volunteers. The human companion must be able to maintain patient and family confidentiality. The dog needs to hold a Pet Therapy certification, be current on all shots, have an active dog license, and have insurance.

By making visits to David Simpson Hospice House, you and your pet will provide the support of pet companionship to patients who are often no longer able to have a pet at home, or with them during their visit to the inpatient unit. Going beyond providing support directly to the patient, the dogs often give an outlet for family members dealing with the impending death of their loved one. Hospice House staff are also grateful for the support of a pet companion, even for a short visit.
