We are looking for individuals who can provide supervision and nurturing care and mentoring for urban youth (ages: birth - 14 yrs).
Volunteers will supervise kids in addition to facilitating crafts, games, and other academically infused life skills activities while their mom's attend Life Skills Classes, which is on Monday evenings from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. Arrival time for volunteers is 5:30 p.m. for instruction and to prepare for the children's arrival.
We need volunteers to assist staff in implementing our programming designed to help develop hope and resiliency in the children who are experiencing homelessness that we serve in our Transitions Program.
Volunteers for the Youth Program may attend every Monday evening or commit to only one Monday each month. We ask that volunteers come at least once a month to maintain consistency for the children.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to help individuals and families, who are experiencing homelessness, achieve their God-given potential by providing a holistic program of stable housing, supportive services and loving relationships.
Description
BHA operates a transitional housing program for women and children experiencing homelessness, owns 14 parcels of land for 24 apartments, employs eight staff members, and has 13 member churches as well as many other supporting congregations, businesses, individuals and grant-making organizations who believe in the work of BHA. The Transitions program works because women set their own goals, while we provide love, support, accountability and guidance. For many families we serve, this is the first time that they have been in a safe place, with supportive people around them. Program Staff work directly with each family every week. They provide life skills coaching, information and referrals to community resources. They also help participants develop and achieve goals based on the needs of each family.
