Assist with bird care at our shelter on 317 S. Ardmore Ave, in Villa Park...hour available 7 days a week, 10 am to 2 pm.
As a non-for-profit organization, we rely solely on the care and help of our volunteer staff. Our organization is ALWAYS in need of extra hands to provide for our birds daily care.
Experience is NOT required to volunteer with us...only a desire to learn about the proper care of exotic birds, willing participation in the necessity of proper cleaning of our birds cages and shelter, and the ability to follow procedures as set forth by our Adoption Decision Committee and Board of Directors of GCC Bird Society. The benefit is the friendship you will form with these comical and special creatures as well as the satisfaction of helping a parrot to stay safe and healthy while we seek their new forever home.

Mission Statement
Our Mission Greater Chicago Caged Bird Society - Rescue, Educate, Share Experiences The mission of the Greater Chicago Cage Bird Society is to care for homeless exotic cage birds through the GCCBS Rescue and Adoption Center and to share knowledge of exotic cage birds through open meetings and other educational events.
Description
The GCCBS takes in unwanted birds from several different sources and provides for their care at our rescue center in Villa Park, Illinois. All positions held within the society and rescue operation are on a volunteer basis. We can house as many as 120 pet birds of all types and sizes, who have been surrendered to our care, at any given time. Most of them are parrots, though we do accept some other types of pet birds. Our goal is to find loving, forever homes by screening prospective adopters carefully and educating them about the needs of exotic birds.
