Yakima Hospice Volunteer Opportunities:
Direct Patient Care - Visit with patient in their home or facility and provide compassionate support to the patient that their caregiver. (Volunteer can specify if they only want to see patients that reside in facilities and not in private residences)

- Write letters for the patient
- Listen to music
- Hold a hand
- Cook a meal

- Capture Life Story/Legacy
Tuck-In Program - Provide a supportive call to our patients to ensure they have received everything they need.
- Call to each new admission within 24 hours of admission and review checklist
- Thursday calls to facilities to see if there are any medication, supply, or other needs for our hospice patients before the weekend
- Thursday calls to hospice patients/caregivers in private residences to see if there are any medication, supply, or other needs before the weekend
Administrative - Provide general office and clerical support. This is provided in the office with support staff. (our new office location is still to be determined)
- Prepare packets and forms
- Send Cards
- General office and clerical tasks
- Phone support
Special Projects - Help with set up/take down, assist with activities in facilities, play music in a facility.
- Community Engagement projects
- Crafts, snacktivity, music, games at facilities with our hospice patients at them
- Health Fairs
- Volunteer recruiting
- Special Events
Medication Delivery - Deliver medication to facilities around town
- Daily pick-up of medications at the main hospital pharmacy and deliver them to the facilities on the list that day
We Honor Veterans
- Direct patient visits
- Ceremonies/presenting of flag, veterans pins etc.
