THE COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATE PROGRAM (CASA)
Advocate for a Child, become a CASA Volunteer today! CASA of the Harbor serves Allegan and Van Buren Counties.
The CASA Program provides a volunteer, community driven voice for abused & neglected children in court. A Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer is a trained citizen who is appointed by a Family Court Judge to represent the best interests of an abused or neglected child in the court process. CASA volunteers advocate for children who have been removed from their home. CASA volunteers offer children trust and advocacy during complex legal proceedings and more importantly during one of the most traumatic times in their lives. The uniqueness of a CASA Volunteer is that this volunteer is assigned one child/case at a time, while the other professionals involved have multiple cases to deal with. The volunteer brings a new and more objective viewpoint to the court process on behalf of the child. The volunteer also has more time to discover the child's history, lifestyle and needs in an effort to present the Judge with more relevant information regarding the child's circumstances (instead of just being another case to process). Our CASA program has been in existence since 1998. We need dedicated people like you to become volunteer. Contact us today, make a difference in a child's life and become a CASA volunteer.
