EAC Network In-Home Respite Services is a not-for-profit program whose mission is to support family caregivers in Nassau County. We are looking for caring adults (perfect for retirees) who will visit an older adult for a few hours each week, allowing the family member caring for that person to take a break. Your assignment will be simply to help ease the loneliness and enrich the life of the senior at home, who may be at risk for falls and/or may have some form of dementia. At the same time, you will likely enrich your own life through social connection and purposeful activities. You choose where you can travel and the hours you are available. You can visit for as few as 2 hours a week, up to a maximum of 6 hours. You will share activities such as walking, chair exercises, chatting, playing games or puzzles, listening to music. You will not provide personal care or perform household tasks. No driving required. No experience necessary - we will provide needed training. In addition to this opportunity, we are also looking for individuals who enjoy public speaking and individuals who are willing to represent the Respite program by attending local events and health fairs for seniors.
