We need LEADERS

We have several volunteer opportunities!

Tour Guide/Docent Interpreters: As a Docent Interpreter, you will SPEAK FOR THE TRAINS by leading tours through and around our historical equipment and passenger cars!

Restoration Staff: Restore some of our exhibit cars to their former glory! Use your skills in carpentry, refinishing woodwork, plumbing or electrical system!

Gardening: Maintain flowers and keep this part of Griffith Park beautiful!

Track Building Crew: Work outside building track at Travel Town, moving rail, driving spikes, setting ties, etc!

Administration: File, maintain mailing lists, do computer work, data entry, write proposals and more!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Foundation is to educate the public about railroad history as it pertains to the development of the Southwest Region of the United States, particularly the Los Angeles area. We fulfill this mission by supporting the restoration, operation, and interpretation of the historic railroad equipment at the City-operated Travel Town Museum in Griffith Park.

Description

Educational Tour Guides needed to instruct the general public and school groups. Great way to meet and talk with others in your community and help out the Museum. Volunteer leaders needed to work with local high school students earning their community service hours. Skilled restoration/mechanical volunteers needed to work on restoring Passenger cars and locomotives and other equipment at the Museum.
