Mission Statement

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature event that acts to fulfill the mission of improving survival from cancer, decreasing the incidence of cancer, and improving the quality of life for those who have been diagnosed with cancer.

Description

Relay for Life is a 24 hour event in which teams pledge to have a walker on the track at Cuesta Park for 24 hours because cancer never sleeps. It is a day and night in which we CELEBRATE the survivors of cancer, REMEMBER those lost to the disease, and FIGHT BACK to prevent its devastating cosequences. The day and night are filled with entertainment, ceremonies, food, and fun with many participants camping out overnight. It is the most successful fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society raising over 3 billion dollars since its beginning in 1985.
