Mission Statement

Gouverneur Healthcare Services has been providing quailty healthcare in Mahatten's Lower East Side for over 120 years. Poor health literacy is a major problem facing the Lower East Side community. Gouverneur is currently seeking to recruit Student Volunteers to help us address this urgent need.

Description

Patient Education and Health Literacy

We are looking for student who are focusing their studies but not limited in the public health, nutrition, nursing and pre-med areas of study who wish to gain knowledge in learing how to speak with patients, conducting surveys, patient education and a wide vartiey of projects such as translation of educational mateials.

Our patient education includes: Nutrition, Kids Nutriton, Ask Me 3, Health Smarts, Breastfeeding and baby Safety.

To be considered for this volunteer postion you must make a 150 hour commintent (6 hr minium a week). Must be bilingual in English/Chinese or English/Spanish. This postion is serious and treated like a job and upon completeion a letter if refrerence is issused.

Duration: Aug-Dec (Fall Semester)
