I have been volunteering at the American Cancer Society (ACS) since January 2010. The staff is very friendly and very supportive. As part of the Road to Recovery Team I have been able to help cancer patients by helping them with the transportation that they need to get to their treatment. I am helping them with their fight against cancer.
Thus far, my experience at ACS has been pleasurable and has helped me grow as an individual by allowing me to be involved in my community and by developing my skills in public speaking, and strategic planning (because the staff noted that I have an interest in developing those skills). I love the fact I can volunteer around my schedule.
It is definitely somewhere I will continue to volunteer.

The American Cancer Society is about seeing people enjoy more birthdays (i.e. live longer). They provide a number of services aiding in the treatment and life preservation of those inflicted with cancer. The program I volunteer with is the Road to Recovery Program which provides transportation free of cost to cancer patients. It is also important to note that this program is run by volunteers.
The American Cancer Society is an important organization in todays society especially with our current economic state. Just a great organization all together.

I have been volunteering with the American Cancer Society ever since the beginning of this year and this has been a wonderful experience. I never knew how prevalent breast cancer is in our society, and I am truly grateful for being a part of an organization that assist those in need and educate the wonderful women and their family. I will definitely recommend anyone who wants to make a difference to volunteer in this astonishing organization. The ladies I encounter makes volunteering with the American Cancer Society worth wild. I love it.

I SPENT HOURS WITH THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR. SHE SAID I HAD THE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY AND COULD START THE FOLLOWING MONDAY. WHEN I CALLED HER BEFOREHAND, SHE DID NOT ANSWER HER PHONE AND I NEVER HEARD ANOTHER WORD FROM HER. IT WAS BIZARRE!
