Mission Statement
Our mission is to create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.
Description
The goals of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) are to empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child, and to make education for the world's children a priority and a right, not a privilege.
In 2003, we asked, if every child in the world had access to a computer, what potential could be unlocked? What problems could be solved? These questions eventually led to the foundation of One Laptop per Child, and the creation of the XO laptop.
We provide a means to give children in even the most remote regions of the globe the opportunity to tap into their potential, engage in a world of ideas, and contribute to a more productive and informed world community.
