Mission Statement
Prison Book Program gives books to individual prisoners in the United States. Prisoners have limited access to educational materials, and we provide them with free books for personal development during incarceration. We do so because education is a powerful tool that reduces the likelihood that a prisoner will return to the prison system.
Description
Prison Book Program is a volunteer-operated, 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that receives requests in the mail from prisoners who wish to read books. We exists for one purpose - to send free books to prisoners.
We respond to prisoner requests by mailing free books, donated by concerned individuals and corporations, to those prisoners. Sometimes the prisoners have specific titles in mind, other times they simply wish to read a book. We strive to meet their request in a timely fashion with books that best match their request.
