Become a Volunteer Tutor with Pathways PA at our convenient locations in Holmes, Chester and Darby, Delaware County PA. Do you enjoy teaching others? We are looking for tutors for Math and Reading to help adults prepare for the GED 2016 exam. Tutor the students individually or in small groups to boost reading, writing, math, science and/or social studies skills. Our students range in age from 18-60 and come from a variety of backgrounds. Classes meet in Holmes, Chester and Darby, morning, afternoon, and evening. Training and support for Math and Reading Tutors is provided. The schedule is flexible-days, nights or weekends!

Description
PathwaysPA's Self-Sufficiency Department has various projects including:
-The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program which provides free federal and state income tax assistance to families earning less than $40,000. The goal is to connect working individuals and families to federal credits and state programs that will increase their refund including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
-Healthcare Sector project, which offers workplace English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at long-term care facilities, skill-specific training in the healthcare field in collaboration with Delaware County Community College, Math and English classes and facilitation of the Delaware County Healthcare Employers Consortium.
-Financial education, public-benefit benefits advocacy, and career exploration for low-income families through the Family Education & Advocacy Program in Philadelphia and ChesterPATHS program in Delaware County. Clients receive financial workshops and one-on-one counseling.
-Through a USDA grant, free screenings and application assistance is offered for the food stamp program. Outreach through news articles, information tables and Health Fairs are geared towards working individuals and families, many of whom believe they are not eligible because they work.
