Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday to spend with your friends and loved ones. Please come volunteer your time to make the holiday special for our elder friends who would otherwise spend it alone.
As part of our Holiday Visitation Program, Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly makes visits to over 400 of our Elder Friends on Thanksgiving who are without family to celebrate the holiday. Our Visiting Volunteers bring with them a hot meal, a bouquet of fresh flowers, a bottle of sparkling cider, and most importantly, the gift of companionship.
We have our Visiting Volunteers pick up these items at Northeastern University's Stetson West Dining Hall between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 28. At that time we will assign you an elder in a neighborhood of Boston. We ask you to spend approximately 45 minutes with your Elder Friend. Of course, you are welcome to spend more time if you and the Elder desire.
How to applyAll volunteers must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. All adult volunteers must fill out an application and undergo a background "CORI" check (Criminal Offender Record Information). Applications are due no later than Wednesday, November 20th, 2013.
For more information or to receive an application, please contact Scott Berry, Volunteer Coordinator at sberry.bos@littlebrothers.org or 617-524-8882.
