Family & Children’s Agency is seeking volunteers to help sort nonperishable food items and place into shopping bags for easy distribution for our senior citizens in need in the Norwalk area.
This is a great opportunity for individuals to volunteer on the 4th Monday of each month following a food delivery from the CT Food Bank. It is physical work opening boxes, sorting and redistributing food items into paper shopping bags. The time of day for this opportunity is 10am (but we can be flexible with time) and this opportunity should take individuals an estimated 90 minutes to complete. (if 2-3 individuals are sorting)
Program Information
Family & Children’s Agency is your trusted Fairfield County nonprofit for senior care. We offer a spectrum of care to allow seniors the ability to remain safe and independent in their own homes. Both the physical limitations of aging and the increasing impact of medical conditions play a decisive role in whether a senior can age successfully at home. Our services, which range from having the security of a Personal Alert button to having a full-time, live-in home health aide, allow seniors to retain their independence throughout the aging process. Other services include short-term home health aides, homemaking services, assisted transportation, caregiver support and social work services.
Requirements
Be able to lift boxes / bags weighing 10-30lbs. Be available on the 4th Monday of each month. To become a volunteer with Family & Children’s Agency, volunteers must complete a brief application and 10 minute HIPAA training. Volunteers must also complete a quick agency orientation with Volunteer Services.
