Family & Children’s Agency is seeking volunteers to collect items for our clients in need. Volunteer typically hold collections through an organization such as their work, school, youth group, or religious group. Volunteers may ask parents, neighbors, family, and friends to donate, but we discourage soliciting strangers door-to-door. Some suggestions are:
Children & Families / Youth
-New baby items (diapers, wipes, clothes, socks, bottles)
-New school supplies (backpacks, pens, pencils, paper, folders, rulers, markers)
-Personal care packages for teens (chapstick, scented lotions, hair care products)
-Arts and craft kits for foster care children (crayons, markers, notepads, construction paper)
-Norwalk Wheels bus tokens for safe rides for middle school students
Adults / Seniors
-Non-perishable food items for newly housed clients (pasta, soups, canned goods)
-Hygiene packages for homeless clients (soap, deodorant, hair products, dental care items)
-New clothing collection for homeless adults (blankets, seasonal clothing, socks)
-Gently-used winter coats for homeless adults (in season)
All Programs
-Baskets of cleaning supplies (cleaners, sponges, paper towels, detergent)
-"Welcome" baskets for newly-housed clients (linens, utensils, cups, plates)
-Gift cards for families (Stop-n-Shop, Shoprite, Walmart)
-New gifts for all ages to be given out for birthdays or prizes for academic excellence
Requirements
To become a volunteer with Family & Children’s Agency, volunteers must complete an application. Volunteers are also invited to attend an agency orientation with Volunteer Services.

Our work:
- Supports children through ASPIRE, Foster Care and IICAPS.
- Builds families through Adoption, Parent Education and Guidance.
- Stabilizes adults with counseling, substance abuse treatment, and supportive housing services.
- Cares for seniors by providing caregiver support, PERS, caregivers and live-in assistance so they can stay in their homes.
