Hearth & Oven Cooking Volunteers at Lefferts Historic House

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Prospect Park Alliance, Education Department

  • 8 people are interested

Lefferts Historic House, located on the east side of Prospect Park, is looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with Hearth & Oven educational programming!

Hearth & Oven programming engages participants in cooking over a wood fire as it would have happened on an 18 th century farmhouse. Students prepare food using traditional tools and methods and sample the finished product. Hearth & Oven Cooking Volunteers are needed to assist during these programs by maintaining fires, demonstrating cooking, and working with children and families. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn a unique skill and support innovative educational opportunities for Brooklyn students!

Prior experience teaching or cooking is preferred. A commitment to learn and to work with members of the public is essential. Volunteers will receive training for this position.

Starting in July, volunteers must be able to work Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12-3 PM for a duration of 6 weeks. Volunteers will then be called on to assist with programming during selected fall and spring weekends.
