Thought you don't have enough time for volunteering? Think again!
Join the Oregon Red Cross as we educate Oregonians about the importance of readiness and encourage their support of local disaster relief.
Every Saturday from Sept. 11 through Oct. 2, we'll be greeting customers in Fred Meyer stores around the state. It's easy to help -- just sign up for a two-hour shift at the store closest to home.

Mission Statement
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Description
With over 750 chapters nation wide, the American Red Cross follows The International Red Cross Fundamental Principles governed by a worldwide International Red Cross Movement. These principles include; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, and Universality. When disaster strikes, the local chapter takes the lead in disaster response by providing Immediate Emergency Assistance to those who are displaced. The Oregon Trail Chapter is headquartered in Portland, and serves the people of Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Multnomah, Tillamook, Washington, Yamhill counties and NE Oregon and Columbia River Districts. Volunteer opportunities are available in all locations. Disaster response is the most visible area for volunteering; however the Chapter offers the opportunity to provide much needed daily help in a variety of departments. All funding is provided by the donated gifts of the American public, and all services are free to the displaced client.
