The Green Recovery Project is intended to provide local residents, including people with disabilities, opportunities to participate in community gardening. The garden will serve as a centerpiece for year-round activities including seasonal events such as plant exchanges, harvest celebrations and craft shows, as well as weekly educational workshops about gardening fundamentals, food preservation, organic crafts, garden photography, flower arranging, etc. Local residents of all ages will be invited to lend their time and attention to the garden and participate in a variety of garden-related activities.
We will have a lot of garden projects going on this year, we will be constructing two new community gardens one at Bunche Academy in Ecorse, and the other at Mark Twain in Detroit.
Get your gardening gloves on and join the fun!
As a Garden Helper you are there to learn and have fun! We will have many projects going on daily to help construct, maintain and care for the gardens. You will be assigned different duties that the Gadren Host will facilitate. You are also eligibe to become a member of the Green Recovery Gardening Collective. Register with a Garden host and you will earn a bushel of produce per week during the harvest season, if you work two hours or more per week during the growing season.
Anyone is welcome to volunteer!
