Volunteers facilitate one-on-one reading with students. Reading partners assist students who have tested at a low reading level or strive to increase reading comprehension to make grade level increases before graduation. By reading with students outside of class, volunteers help students find joy in reading and better understand the beauty of words.
YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School strives to provide out-of-school youth in Philadelphia with the broadest range of tools, supports, and opportunities available to become self-sufficient, responsible, and productive citizens in their community. YouthBuild Philly's unique, one-year program provides a second chance for young people to earn their high school diplomas and learn vital job skills through vigorous academics, vocational training, and community service.
