What is a lunch buddy?
A lunch buddy is a caring adult who provides a student with individual attention and support. They eat lunch with the student, play games, join them at recess, make art, and most of all, have fun!
We seek lunch buddies that can help build a supportive relationship and friendship with students. We ask that the lunch buddy be a dependable person that the student can look forward to seeing once a week. This relationship helps build stability in the life of the child, while boosting their self esteem and often times helping them to perform better in school.
Students may be chosen to be in the program for a variety of reasons. They are often students that we feel would benefit from one-on-one time with an adult.
Lunch buddies spend approximately one hour a week with their student, from 11:50-12:35. The day which you participate is open to you to decide. We will also consider your preferences for age level and gender when you apply.
If you are interested, please contact Sara LaPlante at via email at sara.laplante@gmail.com. An application and detailed description of the program will be sent to you via email. For this reason, please provide your email address when you apply.
