Rebuilding Together Twin Cities (RTTC) is ready to answer the President's call to service.
As part of the United We Serve initiative and the National Day of Service and Remembrance on September 11, 2009, RTTC will be hosting an Energy Efficiency Outreach Project. RTTC is partnering with community volunteers to share energy efficient resources with over 500 low-income households in the neighborhoods we serve.
We are engaging 100 volunteers in this project on September 11th to assemble Energy Efficiency Outreach Bags and deliver these bags to households. Those volunteers delivering the Outreach Bags will work in teams of two for about two to three hours, knocking on doors to inform neighbors of Rebuilding Together Twin Cities' services and energy efficiency resources, and to present them with Energy Efficiency Outreach Bags. Volunteers may also engage in a Neighborhood Cleanup Project around a park or community center. Teams will meet at a central location to receive supplies and instructions, and will meet again when finished distributing bags. Each team must have at least one adult.
This project is an excellent way to serve your community in conjunction with the President's United We Serve initiative, to educate neighbors about energy efficiency resources and practices, and to help Rebuilding Together Twin Cities reach out to low-income homeowners in target neighborhoods. Mission Statement
The mission of Rebuilding Together Twin Cities is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives.
Description
Rebuilding Together renovates and revitalizes homes to help homeowners regain a sense of pride in themselves and their community. It began in 1988 as a national organization with 13 affiliates across the country, born out of the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor. Today, the Rebuilding Together network consists of 129 affiliates, located throughout the United States.
When qualified homeowners are not capable of making needed repairs, Rebuilding Together Twin Cities will coordinate the volunteers, skilled labor, tools and supplies necessary to repair the homes. We also rehabilitate properties that house qualifying nonprofit organizations serving our community. We focus our efforts on older adults, individuals living with disabilities, active and retired members of the armed services, and families with children, tailoring services to meet the needs of each individual homeowner.
In the 23 years since our founding locally, we have renovated and revitalized 1,111 homes, 74 nonprofit centers and community spaces, and four small businesses with the help of 11,415 volunteers, bringing hope and renewed pride to neighborhoods throughout the Twin Cities.
