Help maintain one of America's great western treasures, the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail! Every year, hundreds of involved volunteers choose to volunteer on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail, the crown jewel of America's long-trail system. In California, Oregon, and Washington, individuals, couples and even families who yearn for a unique and rewarding experience join others on trail work projects. The best part is: no experience is necessary. Experienced crew leaders provide all tools and training. Adventurous volunteers join in projects that include brush-cutting, drainage control, trail building, or light construction. Advance registration is required. Because of the number of volunteers, sign up early for your choice of dates and locations.
For the Little Jimmy Project in the Angeles National Forest, volunteers will be re-digging tread, building rock retaining walls and constructing drainage features using both rock and timber. This section of the PCT is up in the San Gabriel Mountains, which amazed John Muir. He said they were some of the steepest and most beautiful mountains in Southern California.
If you have questions or to sign up for a project, contact Jennifer Tripp via email at jtripp@pcta.org or by phone at 916-349-2109 ext. 17.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Pacific Crest Trail Association is to protect, preserve and promote the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail as a world-class experience for hikers and equestrians, and for all the values provided by wild and scenic lands.
Description
"My thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail was the most profound, moving experience of my life. I volunteer in tribute to the trail's role in shaping the person I've become and for the positive impact it will have in other people's lives." - Steve Queen
Each year, dedicated Pacific Crest Trail Association volunteers and staff flock to the woods with picks, shovels, saws and spirit to rebuild washed-out bridges, cut away fallen trees, and restore eroded portions of the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. PCTA recruits young and old by the hundreds to give time and energy to fix what needs to be fixed on this iconic footpath from Mexico to Canada. As a result, volunteers and corps crews devote tens of thousands of hours to keeping the trail open. Hikers and horseback riders alike will tell you that with great thanks to volunteers, the PCT is one of the finest trail experiences in existence.
Thank you for making the decision to support and care for the PCT. Your contribution to the trail will help ensure a life-changing trail experience for future generations. We know that your time and energy is extremely valuable. PCTA's goal is to provide you the opportunity to use your strengths and pursue your passions to not only better the PCT, but also enrich your own life. We want your volunteer experience to be positive, fulfilling, and memorable.
