House Volunteer Job Description SUPERVISION The House Volunteer reports directly to the House Manager/Volunteer Coordinator, though he or she will work closely with all RMH staff to ensure that the needs of the families and staff are met on a consistent basis. MISSION The Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia is designed to be a "home away from home" for the families of seriously ill or critically injured children being treated at Macon area hospitals, by providing temporary housing during the course of the patient's treatment. TIME COMMITMENT The RMH is open seven days per week, 365 days per year. Volunteers are scheduled to work 3-hour shifts on a weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, or as-needed basis. Volunteers are asked to contact the House Manager/Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible if they are unable to attend their scheduled shifts. SHIFT TIMES Shifts are available Mondays - Fridays 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., 12 p.m.- 3 p.m., 3 p.m.- 6 p.m. and 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. POSSIBLE ACTIVITIES AND/OR ASSIGNMENTS 1. Shift Duties Checklist is provided. 2. Office/clerical, including staffing the reception desk, mail distribution, answering and directing incoming telephone calls, ensuring that guests have followed proper checkout procedures, and assisting the staff in various administrative functions. 3. Housekeeping, which includes, but is not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, stocking storage closets, preparing guest rooms, cleaning kitchen and dining areas, stocking pantry areas, assisting with daily family chores, and other housekeeping duties as assigned. 4. Family services, including but not limited to, familiarizing guests with House services, assisting families with their needs or requests, and other services as needed. Volunteers should strive to make House residents' stay as comfortable as possible. 5. Other duties as assigned.
