April 25, Saturday 11 th Annual Garlic Mustard Weed Out Day and Barbeque! Weed Out - 10:00 am to 1:00 pm (various locations) Barbeque Potluck - 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Leslie Science & Nature Center - 1831 Traver Road
Come on out for camaraderie, bring your family and lend a hand to help in a park near you! Garlic mustard is an aggressive invasive plant which can result quickly in a total loss of native groundcover and a decrease in species diversity. Learn how to identify this plant and make a tremendous impact in preservation efforts by removing it from our parklands. Did you know that young plants are actually tender and can be made into tasty, garlic-flavored meals? Please remember to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.
Join us after the workday for a fun celebration of our collective impact on the invasives around town at an afternoon potluck barbeque at 2:00 pm! We provide dogs, burgers (veggie too), beverages, and a few garlic mustard dishes. Please bring a dish to share. Family and friends are welcome. Please RSVP to NAP if you plan to attend the potluck (734.794.6627). About Natural Area Preservation

Mission Statement
Natural Area Preservation (NAP) works to protect and restore Ann Arbor's natural areas and to foster an environmental ethic among its citizens. This involves conducting plant and animal inventories, ecological monitoring, and stewardship projects in Ann Arbor parks. These tasks are performed by both staff and volunteers.
Description
Volunteers assist NAP in all aspects of our work, and are vital to NAP's efforts. NAP projects take volunteers well beyond the realm of litter clean-up into working to restore and care for natural areas. Through hands-on tasks and scientific knowledge, we encourage a connection between volunteers and their surrounding natural environment. Volunteers play a key role in fostering an environmental ethic in the community. To learn more, visit A2gov.org/NAP
