The Holiday Season is quickly approaching. We are looking for caring volunteers to partner with Compassionate Care Hospice of Houston's Volunteer Team to make baskets or gift bags for our terminally ill patients. There are many patients who unfortunately do not have the support during the holidays experience the feeling of being loved. Through our annual holiday baskets we've been able to extend the gift of love and compassion throughout the Holidays and the entire year. We have "KIDS HOSPICE" also. All our patients have been given a terminal diagnosis of six months or less to live on earth. Through the hands of our community we are able to extend hugs and smiles to make each day joyful, while allowing our patients to experience dignity in their last days.

This is how your organization/group can help. From the dates of Dec. 6th - December 31st 2010, we are accepting donations to make baskets. Volunteer groups are encouraged to make baskets at your site as well. Please attach a sticker/tag with your group name. When baskets are completed they can be picked up or delivered to our office. The baskets will then be delivered to our patients in the Houston and surrounding areas. Our Volunteer Coordinator is the point of contact for this activity and will gladly work with you to get the gifts picked up. Below we have a list of donation items and/or basket contents. Mission Statement

To affirm life during its final stages by providing holistic compassionate care to patients and their families; by providing access to hospice care for underserved or difficult to serve populations; by wise and efficient use of available resources, and by educating the community.

Description

Founded in 1993, Compassionate Care Hospice is a community-based organization committed to providing the highest quality hospice car to patients, their families and close friends throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, South Dakota, and Texas.

We care for terminally ill patients with a wide range of illnesses including cancer, advanced cardiac disorders, advanced neurological disorders, AIDS, ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), Multiple Sclerosis and any end stage disease.

Care is delivered by a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, home health aides, bereavement coordinator, pastoral counselor and volunteers. Under the direction of the patient's physician and our hospice medical director, the team follows a personalized plan of physical, emotional and spiritual care. The plan is continually reviewed and adapted to meet the patient's changing needs.

At Compassionate Care we are committed to quality of life, which enables patients to remain in the comfort and privacy of their own homes, with their loved ones. We provide the special care and services that make that choice possible.
