RSVP is seeking 15 retired and/or active duty service men and women to serve as MVP Veterans Together in Service Pen Pals. This Pen Pal project will pair local Manhattan, KS elementary school classroom children with a retired veteran or current active duty soldier. In November RSVP will host "Take a Vet to School Day". Pen Pals will have a chance to meet, have lunch and tour the school. RSVP will also sponsor "Salute to Veterans Day" activities which will include opportunities for retired and active duty military personnel to write essays, show patriotism, and design posters with area K-12 students. Sharing these experiences is designed to increase appreciation for the United States Military, and offer students an innovative way to experience U.S. History.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!
RSVP of the Flint Hills, Inc. provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, telephone reassurance program, disaster relief, court services, public safety, delivering meals to the homebound, Veteran's affairs, social service agencies, hospitals, and much more to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
