Your delightful company and congenial personality is requested to help Soroptimist International of Greenville (SI Greenville) provide FEE FREE Book Sittin' Stations at the Annual Really Good, Really Big, Really CheapGreenville Literacy Association Book Sale - Saturday, August 18, 2012.

Since 2007, Soroptimist members eagerly look forward to help lighten the load of shoppers intent on buying lots of books. Members and community volunteers provide Book Sittin' Services to Shoppers by enabling them to drop off purchased bags and boxes of books for the no-fee book-sitting at strategically placed Stations (near checkouts). Then shoppers are free to continue supporting GLA and buy more books.

This is a FREE service. No tips or donations will be accepted. Limited Free Gift for the early birds...Stay cool with your Soroptimist "FAN" while you support Greenville Literacy.

WE NEED YOU TO VOLUNTEER!!!!!! Bring your congenial self, Sit a Spell and spin a yarn or two with us. Even 2 hours spaced throughout the day from at least 6-8 volunteers will help.

All interested volunteers please email your contact info directly to soroptimist@gmail.com. Shift times from 7:30am to 3:30pm morning and afternoon. shifts will be organized once all volunteers are signed up. Please include your time preference - AM / MidDAY or PM timeframe.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization for businees and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, through service projects in local communities and throughout the world to advance human rights and the status of women. About 95,000 Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories contribute their time and financial support to community-based projects benefiting women and girls.

Since 1972 the major Soroptimist program has been the Women's Opportunity Award - an annual cash grant for women seeking to improve their economic situation through additional education and training. World-wide the program has disbursed about $17 million in cash grants to about 25 ,000 women worldwide. In 2005-2006 alone the program honored 1052 women with this prestigious award.

Soroptimist International of Greenville is a 501(c)(3) chartitable organization, located in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Upstate South Carolina.

SI/Greenville's major programs are the Women's Opportunity Award, the Violet Richardson Award, The Soroptimist Ruby Award:For Women Helping Women, The Greenville County Women's Hall of Fame, and many more community focused programs.
