Saddle Pals is looking for volunteers who are experienced with horses. We need volunteers to work as leaders in lessons. Leaders lead the horses in lessons, keeping the student and the horse safe during the lessons.
We are in great need of people with horse experience to help with our horses. We work Saturday through Thursday, various hours. We ask for just one class, or one hour a week for 7 weeks. After that it is up to the individual whether they would like to stay on. The weekly schedule not only helps the student to bond to the leader, but also helps the leader to bond and understand thier horse and likewise.

Mission Statement
To provide therapeutic horsemanship, recreation and educational opportunities to physically, emotionally, mentally or otherwise challenged individuals.
Description
The philosophy of Saddle Pals is to strive for independence through horsemanship. Through therapeutic horsemanship, we use the horse, its relationship to the rider, and the activities associated with horseback riding as a rehabilitative therapy. Ranging from 3-over 70 years old, we serve any child or adult whom we can safely accomodate and who can benefit from our program. We are accredited through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), which certifies that Saddle Pals meets or exceeds established guidelines for safety, quality, management and administration. Therapeutic riding may be beneficial for individuals with such conditions as Down Syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances, sensory integrative disorders, learning disabilities such as ADD and ADHD, developmental delays, depression, and traumatic brain injury. Grooming helps the rider develop a special bond with the horse that builds mutual trust and respect. Students also learn the responsibilities of safety and horse care while experiencing the rewards that come as they develop their riding skills. Volunteers are very integral to Saddle Pals and participate in all aspects of the program, from sidewalkers, who assist with lessons, to business and community leaders, who assist in special projects, program management and fundraising. Saddle Pals offers its volunteers the opportunity to learn new skills, develop new relationships and contribute to their community in a hands-on and meaningful way. Saddle Pals relies on 88% of its funds through direct community support and is staffed primarily by volunteers.
